India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the West Bank on Saturday, as part of a regional tour that includes the UAE and Oman. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed Modi in an official ceremony in Ramallah.
The Indian leader signed economic agreements to help boost relations with Palestinians and Gulf states. India was one of the earliest champions of the Palestinian cause, but in recent years it's turned to Israel for high-tech military equipment and anti-terrorism cooperation. India repeated its support for the Palestinians, saying Modi's trip is to help improve healthcare, information technology and education.
