The final stage of World Flower Art Contest has been held in Beijing. Contestants from across the world have displayed their superb skills and exotic designs on the theme of "Blooming in Beijing Expo." CGTN spoke to some of the contestants to know more about the artistic concept behind their work.
Flowers have long been admired by human beings and have brought beauty and joy to people's lives. Their intriguing shapes and enticing scents have turned flowers into true inspirations for artists.
17 designers from across the world are bringing the beauty of nature at its peak in the final stage of World Flower Art Contest in Beijing's International Horticulture Expo. Their works from previous rounds are also displayed as part of the event.
Franca, an artist from New Zealand says it's fantastic to meet other designers and that she is happy about her own breakthrough in Beijing.
FRANCA LOGAN CONTESTANT, NEW ZEALAND "The theme was something blooming at the expo at the garden. So I focused on the flower in the middle. And I worked little gardens around and try to make everything look like it's growing instead of very linear."
Franca's good experience is echoed by another contestant from France. Although he has a different design concept and understanding of China.
MAXIME ALEX HUGUES HURTAUD FRENCH CONTESTANT "I made something straight with lines, so it's not booming like a tree. I made very parallel work. And there is a connection between branches and leaves."
The final round of the contest also witnessed the emergence of competitive Chinese designers.
HAN HAO CHINESE CONTESTANT "They have provided us with a structure to work on. It is a traditional Chinese window. So, I have tried to display elements of Chinese tradition by using swinging flowers and plants."
HAN HAO CHINESE CONTESTANT "When I first joined the industry, there was nothing. We had to learn from Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Europe. But now I think Chinese mainland can organize very high-level competitions."
The artworks from the final and previous rounds will be displayed until August 26th. Lu Sirui, CGTN, BEIJING.
