A vehicle with six passengers was hijacked by Al-Shabaab militants in coastal Lamu town, Kenya on Thursday, according to Xinhua.

Coast regional police chief James Akoru later confirmed the incident, saying a senior government official was among those taken hostages at Milijoi in the restive Lamu region.
