South Africa's new president, Cyril Ramaphosa has delivered his first speech to parliament since he took office. Ramaphosa vowed to tackle endemic corruption, revive South Africa's stagnant economy, address unemployment, and control spiralling government debt. Ramaphosa took office on Thursday, replacing Jacob Zuma, who resigned the day before, under immense pressure from his own party. Zuma had faced multiple corruption scandals, an economic slowdown, and falling popularity among voters.
