Surveillance footage shows a subway passenger in Shenzhen, south China falling through broken tiling into a cavity beneath the floor as she approached an escalator in a station on Saturday. The woman was rescued by passers-by and fortunately she was only slightly injured. In a 2015 report, China’s Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said more than 110,000 escalators in the country had potential safety issues.
