Tennis: Federer, Muguruza triumph in Wimbledon

Swiss tennis star Roger Federer won a record eighth Wimbledon title on Sunday, beating Croat Marin Cilic - hampered by a blister on his foot - in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, 6-4. The tournament favorite has been on a roll since coming back from injury, already lifting the trophy at the Australian Open in January. Sunday’s victory, his first at Wimbledon since 2012, puts his Grand Slam tally at 19. A day earlier, Spain’s Garbine Muguruza won her first Wimbledon title and second Grand Slam trophy after vanquishing five-time Wimbledon champ Venus Williams 7-5, 6-0. This sees last year’s French Open winner move up from number 15 to five in the WTA rankings.
