Saturday has witnessed a crucial step in the easing of tensions on the Korean Peninsula as KCNA reported that Kim Jong Un, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), announced he would halt nuclear tests and intercontinental missile launches.
The DPRK has concentrated all its scientific research efforts on nuclear and missile programs over the past decade to empower itself with a nuclear deterrence force, which Pyongyang says is purely in self-defense against threats from the US.
