The Trump administration's new move comes nearly one month after the deadly Florida school shooting which killed 17 people. And it certainly is not the only mass shooting to happen on US soil this year.
On January 23, two people were killed and 18 others injured during a school shooting in Benton, Kentucky. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 18 years.
On January 28, a shooting rampage at a car wash in southwestern Pennsylvania left at least five people dead, including the perpetrator, and a sixth person with minor injuries.
On February 11, in another shooting in the state of Kentucky, five people were killed, including a gunman who took his own life. The local sheriff described it as a horrific murder spree and one of the most disturbing acts he has ever seen.
