US Gun Violence: 'Bump stock' used by gunman in deadly Las Vegas shooting
[]
What exactly are bump stocks? The gun modifier enables semi-automatic rifles to fire as rapidly as machine guns. A bump stock costs around 100 US dollars and can be purchased without a criminal background check.
The device was used by gunman Stephen Paddock, who fired more than 1,100 rounds on crowds at the Las Vegas Strip in October last year. Almost 60 people were killed or injured in the attack, considered America's worst ever mass-shooting by a lone gunman. Audio analysis found the 64-year-old had been able to fire 90 bullets within 10 seconds from his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
