Turning to the latest in Syria now. Russia's foreign ministry spokesperson says the counter-terrorist operation in Eastern Ghouta is nearly finished. Only the town of Douma remains under the control of armed groups.
The spokesperson gave no details of negotiations with the rebels still holding out. Thousands of rebels have accepted Russian-brokered deals to leave other parts of Eastern Ghouta in the past week. Under the terms of the deal, their families are allowed safe passage on government-supplied buses, taking them to other insurgent-held areas. The collapse of rebel control in Eastern Ghouta has delivered the insurgents their worst defeat since they were driven out of Aleppo in 2016.
