In our Faces of 2017 series, we take a look at the individuals who stole the headlines this year. Today, we’re concentrating on Carrie Lam, Park Geun-hye and the more than 20 million African refugees who suffered from starvation. Carrie Lam was elected as Hong Kong’s fifth chief executive and its first female leader. Another female leader, former S. Korea President Park Geun-hye, however, was arrested on charges of bribery and abuse of power.
