Baidu ranked the most bizarre – and bizarrely common – questions as "When I hold in a fart, where does the gas go?" According to Baidu, it exits out of the mouth and nose. When people hold in gas, it will absorb into the intestinal wall and then mix with the blood. The gas then comes out through the mouth – the higher end of the digestive tract.

However, Baidu cannot answer anything. For example, some netizens asked "Why does my daughter look ugly?" Many users want to comfort those who ask this question by commenting "beauty is not everything" or "your daughter might be more beautiful when she blossoms into womanhood."

On the other hand, the fourth-ranked weird question reflects social issues in China. "Why are college degrees not worth the money, but an address in a good school district is worth every penny?" is question on the minds of many parents in China who are willing to invest huge amounts of money on properties to ensure a place at privileged schools for their children. Unfortunately, young Chinese college graduates face gloomy employment prospects nowadays.
