Chinese artist Wu Di has shot a group of photos on the theme of people living under smog, a series aiming to awaken people to the current state of air pollution. In some of the photos, people from different regions of the country wear gas masks to indicate the tough lives they lead, while in other photos a young girl is connected to a balloon through an oxygen tube. Since the very beginning of this year, northern areas of the country have been blanketed with severe smog, forcing around 70 cities to issue orange and red alerts for smog and fog.
