First China International Import Expo: Discovering the venue of the international import expo

With less than a week to go until the first China International Import Expo, organizers and exhibitors are making their final preparations for the event. CGTN's Wang Hui visited the venue, and finds out how the preparation work is going.

Many will enter the first ever China International Import Expo through its brand new south gate. Nestled in the Jiangnan near the Yangtze River, the region's decorative style differs from the royalty kind seen in northern China. The royalty style usually uses strong red and gold. But the color here is lighter, with more elegance.

WANG HUI SHANGHAI "As you said there are many elements showing the Jiangnan's style, would you please tell us more."

ZHANG JUNJIE, PRESIDENT EAST CHINA ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & RESEARCH INSTITUTE "We built eight flower columns. We chose eight kinds of flowers that would represent the area and event well. Like this one, it's covered by peony, China's national flower. And the shape of the column is like a celadon vase, not a simple cylinder. It shows the beautiful flavor of the Jiangnan style."

Since May, more than 150 designers have been involved in this project. The venue also embodies China's four seasons.

WANG HUI SHANGHAI "The venue's four gates are decorated with themes of each of the four seasons. The South Gate where I am, represents fall, so the boards are colored yellow and orange. In total, the four gates have 498 pieces of board, with 168 different colors."

StartingNovember 5th, more than 3000 companies from more than 130 countries will showcase their products in seven different exhibition areas.

The exhibitors are busy moving their items and setting up their booths. Some of them started their work as early as two weeks ago.

About 400 companies from 39 countries and regions will showcase their ships, helicopters, artificial intelligence products and industrial robots in this high-end intelligence equipment exhibition area.

TIAN YE, HEAD OF HIGH-END INTELLIGENCE EQUIPMENT EXHIBITION AREA CHINA INTERNATIONAL IMPORT EXPO "The heaviest, largest item at the expo is in our area. This Gantry machine center, weighs 200 tons. The most expensive one is also here. The helicopter is 200 million yuan. And 30 products will make their debut here."

Besides this Enterprise and Business Exhibition, there will also be a country pavilion for trade and commerce, and an International Economic and Trade forum.
