Three United Nations (UN) peacekeepers were killed, and another five seriously injured in a blast from an explosive device that occured while they were escorting a convoy in Mali, the West African nation's peacekeeping mission said on Sunday.
According to a statement from the mission, the convoy was travelling between the towns of Anefis and Gao in Mali's volatile north.
The explosion took place at around 7 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), the statement said, adding that the death toll was an early estimation.
