In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen had the chance to move into the top four in the Bundesliga when they visited fellow Champions League chasers, Leipzig. The club from the Rhine finished a disappointing 12th last season, but under coach Heiko Herrlich, who replaced the now Beijing Goan boss Roger Schmidt, they are in contention to get back amongst Europe's elite after missing out for the first time in four years last campaign.
The home side go in front after 17 minutes thanks to Marcel Sabitzer's low effort from outside the box.

The visitors then take the lead six minutes after the break. Bernd Leno's goal kick falls into the path of the re-called Kevin Volland to slot home on his return to the starting eleven after injury.

Bayer adds a third five minutes later through young Greece defender Panagiotis Restos who gets his first goal for the club.
And the scoring is complete in the 69th minute. Volland turns provider for Julian Brandt to side-foot past Peter Gulacsi for a fourth time, 4-1 is the final.
That victory puts Leverkusen in fourth on 48 points, overtaking Leipzig who drops to sixth. Frankfurt is outside the Champions League places on goal difference while Dortmund stays third, one point behind Schalke.
