After two weeks of frantic preparations, the US-DPRK summit is ready to begin on Wednesday. Tony Cheng reports from Hanoi.
Kim Jung Un's train pulls into Dong Dang station in Vietnam, the end of a two-day journey from Pyongyang.
As he alighted, Chairman Kim was met by a delegation of Vietnamese officials and a large crowd excited to see their much anticipated guest.
NGHIDONG DANG RESIDENT "Kim (Jong Un) is here in Vietnam and just like everybody else, I feel very happy and excited. I feel honoured that Lang Son province was chosen to welcome him."
TRUONG HONG DUYENDONG DANG RESIDENT "I saw him in real life. He's really young, friendly and handsome."
As Chairman Kim's motorcade moved swiftly through the North Vietnamese countryside, then into the capital Hanoi, residents lined the streets.
Vietnam has been keen to put on a big welcome ahead of this summit, aware that the eyes of the world will be watching for the next few days. And tight security measures ahead of the summit started to come into effect.
TONY CHENG HANOI "This is one of the heavily armored vehicles that is currently going around the streets of Hanoi and with Kim Jung Un and Donald Trump soon to arrive a sign that the Vietnamese are taking security very seriously."
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeio also arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday morning. Although very few details about the summit have yet been released, it's thought he may meet with DPRK counterparts for bilateral meetings in the next few days.
And Donald Trump set off from Washington DC in Airforce 1. He said he hopes the summit will bring "tremendous" results. But despite all the anticipation, it's not yet clear what results will be achieved. Tony Cheng, CGTN, Hanoi.
