A major HIGHLIGHT of the ongoing Shanghai International Film Festival is the "Belt & Road Film Night" -- it's designed to provide a diversified platform for cultural exchanges among the countries and regions involved in the international development project. Our reporter Sun Wei is in Shanghai to tell us more. Hi, Sun Wei!

SUN WEI SHANGHAI Hi, Julian! I'm now standing at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre Shanghai. Here, at this venue, we have a hugely-anticipated event -- the Belt and Road Film Night -- and it's all expected to get going at around six o'clock.

It's essentially a review of the past Belt and Road Week, during which film festival organizers from a host of Belt and Road countries and regions have formed a coalition, and they're aiming to share information, recommend films, invite filmmakers and start joint projects.

Three awards will be handed out -- the Audience Choice Award, and the Media Choice Award for both films and filmmakers.

Besides that, a few high-profile international actors are expected to explain how they are witnessing the rise of the Chinese film industry around the world.
