Life behind the lens: Capturing wildlife magic on camera

By CGTN Africa

One of the new wonders of the world – the spectacular Great Migration – has been taking place in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve.
CGTN Africa’s crew has been camping in the reserve for the past week, doing all they can to ensure our audience gets to witness every detail of this migration.
The Great Migration sees over 1.5 million wildebeests, 200,000 zebras and a sizeable number of antelopes and gazelles travelling across Kenya and Tanzania in search of fresh pastures.
Every year during that migration, around 250,000 wildebeests and 30,000 zebras are killed as a result of predation by carnivores, but also from thirst, hunger, and exhaustion.
Capturing all this action for our audience is however not an easy task. The crew has to go through a lot of challenges to succeed in their quest.
From the rough terrain to the high temperatures of the Maasai Mara, they have to brave it all if they are to capture the best action.
They have had to bear long waits at the action-packed Mara river each day, to ensure they capture the crossing by hundreds of animals.
Circumstances can go beyond their hands in the quest for a perfect shot, but that does not mean they give up.
Well, we brought the action to you, now we give you a chance to go behind the lenses.
