The post-90s generation in China has brought anime culture to the job market, according to a survey released this week by xiangcaozhaopin.com, a Chinese recruitment website.
It found that more than 60 percent of post-90 generation employees are so-called “two-dimensional world lovers,” referring to those who obsessed with the Japanese subculture of anime and manga.
But they might feel disappointed if they wish to transform their interests into a decent career, for the choices seem limited. Most of their ideal jobs are ACG domain-related –connected to anime, comics or games.

According to the survey, only one-quarter have achieved the goal of working in ACG fields, with the top four sought-after jobs – dubbing actor, post-production, designer and editor.
But most say they are able to maintain a work-life balance.
“For me, there is no connection at all between my job and my hobby," said Ma Zhe, an employee who graduated in 2016. "I work hard during work, and in my spare time, I can enjoy my hobby.”
Xiaoqing, a 22-year-old designer who does the same as Ma Zhe, said:  “Most of my colleagues are post-80s generation. Since they do not share my interest, I usually found nothing to talk with them apart from work itself.”
But still, 65.9 percent of them said they would let colleagues know about their hobbies, according to the report, even it might be challenging for the traditional workplace relationship.

And they tend to do so by the putting something like an ornament of their favorite characters on their desks, or at least, as computer desktop wallpaper.
