Sixteen recently-released films are being screened in the annual Chinese Film Panorama, which is running in Hong Kong until October 22.
Filmmaker Lu Chuan attended the opening ceremony of the event on Monday night, when his latest work "Born in China" was screened.
Lu told CGTN he that he hoped the festival could "let viewers outside of the Chinese mainland get a glimpse of the true color of Chinese movies" at a time when the market is booming.

Made in association with Disneynature, Disney’s nature documentary division, "Born in China" features incredible animals like the snow leopard, the golden monkey, the giant panda and the Tibetan antelope, which have to migrate across China in order to survive the country's spectacular yet brutal seasons. The film won Best Documentary award at the 3rd Silk Road International Film Festival.
The Chinese Film Panorama has taken place in Hong Kong since the region's return to China in 1997. Over the past two decades, the event has introduced more than 300 mainland movies and China-related films to Hong Kong viewers.
This year’s selection of films includes "Paths of the Soul", about the epic pilgrimage of a group of Tibetans; black-and-white, 1990s-set drama "The Summer is Gone"; "Knife in the Clear Water", about an aging Muslim farmer and his cow; and martial arts action film "The Master".
