A deadly gas attack has been reported in Syria after footage on social media showed people, including several children, being treated for gas related wounds at an emergency clinic. The attack is said to have hit the rebel enclave of Douma. A warning to our viewers, the following pictures may be disturbing to some.
The video comes amid reports by a Syrian rebel group, which has accused government forces of launching a deadly chemical attack, on civilians in eastern Ghouta. A medical relief organization said 35 people were killed in the attack. Syrian state media denied government forces had launched any chemical attack and said rebels in Douma were in a state of collapse and were spreading false news.
Meanwhile the US State Department has said it's monitoring the situation, and that Russia should be blamed if chemical weapons were used.
