The brutal gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in India administered Kashmir has triggered nationwide outrage.
The case inflamed tensions on the prevalence of sexual crimes. Protesters are also demanding the death penalty for a ruling party legislator, who is allegedly involved in a separate rape case involving a 16-year-old in Uttar Pradesh. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi led a candlelight vigil early Friday morning. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi has yet to speak out on the cases.
