At least 29 people have been killed and 52 others wounded after a suicide bomber detonated explosives near a shrine mid-Wednesday, according to officials.
The area of the blast was less than 200 meters from Karte Sakhi shrine, where people gathered to celebrate the first day of the Nowruz holiday, which marks the start of the Persian New Year.
ISIL has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
The country's Ministry of Public Health warned that the death toll might climb further.
Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said  that all victims were civilians after a suicide attacker on foot detonated himself in front of the Ali Abad hospital, opposite Kabul University.
