An shadow puppetry-themed entertainment park opened Wednesday in Tangshan City, north China's Hebei Province.
Shadow puppetry, which was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2011, is a Chinese traditional drama performed by silhouette figures made from paperboard.
"Tourists have the chance to learn more about the intangible cultural heritage and enjoy the shadow puppet performances in the park," said Fu Haitao from the Tangshan Culture and Tourism Group, the operator of the park.

Covering 350,000 square meters, the park is divided into eight parts, including a water park, s shadow puppetry theater, a shadow puppetry bookstore, and a pet park.
The theater features a round stage in the center, encircled by two walls. There are 17 shadow puppetry exhibitions in the outer circle.
Tangshan shadow puppetry is one of China's most influential shadow plays, famous for its exquisite handicrafts, skillful manipulation, and elegant vocal music, said Li Xiaoyang, a folk expert.
Li noted that Tangshan has stepped up the protection of its shadow puppetry in recent years through various measures to draw a larger audience.
