NPC bimonthly session: China to raise income tax threshold

The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature, has kicked off its bi-monthly session.  
Under review is a draft law amendment to raise the monthly individual income tax exemption threshold to 5,000 yuan (780 US dollars). It's currently 3,500 yuan (550 US dollars ).
It is the seventh amendment to the individual income tax law since it was implemented in 1980.
Lawmakers will also take a look at the draft e-commerce law, revised drafts to the organization laws of the people's courts, and the people's procuratorates. 
They will also review reports on national sci-tech projects, solid waste disposal, and implementation of the Statistics Law.
They will also deliberate a bill on duties of the Constitution and Law Committee, submitted by the chairpersons' meeting of the NPC Standing Committee, and a bill on maritime rights protection and law enforcement of the China Coast Guard, submitted by the Central Military Commission.
