At least 15 people were killed and over 50 missing on Thursday when a landslide triggered by heavy rains buried several houses in Naga City in the central Philippine Cebu Province, authorities said.
The landslide occurred shortly before 6 a.m. local time and buried several houses in the villages of Naalad and Tinaan. Dozens more are feared trapped under mud, according to local authorities.

Naga City councilor Carmelino Cruz told the media that up to 50 people might have been buried alive in the landslide.
Authorities said people had been warned to leave the area due to imminent signs that landslide could occur. However, they said the residents ignored the warnings.
The landslide hit while several northern Philippine provinces were still dealing with deaths and widespread damage wrought by Typhoon Mangkhut, which left at least 88 people dead and more than 60 missing.
