The Kazaks are an ethnic group who primarily live in the western and northern parts of central Asia. In China, there are about 1.5 million Kazaks and around 90 percent of them live in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Some Kazak people still live a traditional nomadic life. Men and women, young and old, are excellent horse riders. They traditionally make their living from livestock raising and animal husbandry. The tradition of rotational grazing is still in use.
As a famous Kazak proverb goes: "Songs and horses are the two wings of the Kazak people." They are fond of music and love singing and dancing. Kazak people also preserve their rich cultural heritage through literature and art that's passed down generation to generation.
