Northeast China: a rime-coated wonderland

CGTN

As cold air and snow roll into northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, temperatures have dropped to minus 30 degrees Celsius in some regions. The extreme cold not only brings low temperature to the locals but also a marvelous natural phenomenon - rime.

Rime forms when water in the air is cooled below zero degree Celsius. The frozen droplets cling onto various surfaces, especially plants, and creates a mesmerizing winter wonderland.
