The Chinese mainland will only open wider and wider to Taiwan, with ever-improving policies and services, top political advisor Wang Yang said on Tuesday.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at the 2018 annual conference of the summit for entrepreneurs across the Taiwan Strait in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
Noting the bond between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan compatriots, Wang said the orientation of the Chinese mainland's policies has always been providing good services to entrepreneurs from Taiwan.
Bucking the trend of mounting protectionism and unilateralism, trade between Chinese mainland and Taiwan continues to rise, which suffices to illustrate economic cooperation has a solid foundation and strong momentum on the two sides, Wang added.
Many of the preferential policies for Taiwan have already taken effect, bringing solid benefits to Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan-funded enterprises, Wang said, adding that Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan-funded enterprises will enjoy more opportunities and greater space of development on the Chinese mainland as more measures are being implemented.
Wang also called for the compatriots on both sides to make concerted effort upholding the one-China principle and adhere to the 1992 Consensus, which is the prerequisite and basis for the two sides to build mutual political trust and achieve good interaction.
The conference started in 2009, is a non-governmental platform that aims to promote grassroots economic and trade and people exchange.
