CGTN invited Professor Shi Huimin of National Academy of Development and Strategy at Renmin University of China to our studio to share her views on the tit-for-tat trade confrontation between China and US.
When asked how much potential damage could be inflicted on China, she said the trade war will have consequences on China’s GDP but the magnitude of which is not that large. This is because compared with China’s total exports, China-US trade volume only accounts for 10 percent.
She also said that there are alternatives for China to minimize the damage when tariffs on US imports increase, such as turning to another country or source for the same products and boosting domestic production.
