The Panama Canal has long been an important waterway for maritime trade, allowing easy and quick transport of goods between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. The U.S. has been dominating this strategic canal for decades, and now, some American analysts are worried about the U.S. losing its influence in Panama and even in Central America as China and Panama strengthen their bilateral ties. Jiang Shixue, director of Latin American Studies at the Shanghai University, shares his thoughts on the issue.
