The term "We-media" has been a buzzword in China in recent years. It refers to Internet-based news sources that are either run by individuals or small collectives. These bloggers are often without any journalistic background or experience, but that hasn't stopped "We-Chat" accounts from spreading and garnering audience.
"We-media" accounts are a product of the high-speed development of media technology and therefore the traditional news media has to face up to the competition and challenges arising from the popularity of these platforms, Lu Ningsi, executive chief editor of Phoenix InfoNews Channel told CGTN.
Lu is attending the second CGTN Global Media Summit, which opened on Tuesday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
As "We-media" accounts tend to unveil common stories in people's everyday life, the traditional news media should follow their steps to make full use of new media in reporting international and politics news.
