China has pledged to coordinate its efforts of environmental protection and economic development in 2019. Many companies, like Honeywell, give all-out support to China's effort in terms of improving the environment and building a more beautiful China, according to William Yu, president of Honeywell China.
"As a company, we fully support China's effort to improve the environment and build a beautiful China. Within the last 15 years, we contribute a lot to developing technologies. This is not only good for companies like us but also good for people who live in the area," Yu said.
Yu listed some of the latest cutting-edge ways to combat pollution caused by buildings, petrochemicals and refrigerants while at the same time maintaining living standards.
"Data showed that 40 percent of the energy in the world was consumed by the buildings. And over 20 percent of greenhouse gas was emission from the building. Now building an intelligent system which is connected to the Internet of Things and big data can dramatically reduce energy emission," he explained.
Yu said that along with improving living standard, people buy more consumer goods like clothing and electronic product, and choose larger apartments.
"All need petrochemical products," he noted, detailing that there is new technology to help create products in the petrochemical industry without damaging the environment. He added that leading refrigerant technologies for air-conditioner in cars could be crucial to easing global warm.

Some companies hesitated to buy advanced and environmental-friendly technologies due to the cost. He outlined three suggestions for governments to better coordinate with the private sector in this regard.
Yu emphasized that central and local governments should introduce stricter environmental-friendly regulations to push companies to go green. Then they should think about how to promise the execution of regulations. Moreover, Yu advised governments to work with experienced companies to improve management and ensure the implementation of the regulations.
