Supported by the IPRCC, CGTN and Guangxi TV will be working together to produce the documentary which focuses on the cooperation between China and the ASEAN countries in poverty reduction as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The production team will go to the project villages in Laos, Kampuchea, and Burma and show how China’s experience in alleviating poverty is working there.
In November 2014, Premier Li Keqiang put forward the "Cooperation Initiative on Poverty Reduction in East Asia" at the ASEAN-China Summit. In December 2016, the cooperation demonstration project on the poverty reduction initiative was officially launched in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. According to the plan, China would cooperate with two poverty-stricken villages each in Laos, Kampuchea and Burma over the next three years to share China’s knowledge and experience in poverty reduction and carry out the strategies of targeted poverty alleviation according to the different conditions to improve local productivity and living conditions, enhance self-development ability and improve the livelihood of the people.
