American actress Rose McGowan verified an actor's accusation of Italian actress Asia Argento on sexual assault in McGowan's statement issued on Monday, according to BBC.
In the statement, McGowan said that Argento talked about her sleeping with male actor Jimmy Bennett, which was recorded in messages sent to Rain Dove, McGowan's current partner.
McGowan felt that she had "bonded" with Argento over their "shared experience," and urged Argento to stay "honest" and "to be the person you wish Harvey could have been," BBC reported by citing McGowan's statement.
Bennett had accused Argento of sexually assaulting him in 2013 when he was 17, and the woman agreed to pay him 380,000 US dollars after his request, as revealed in a report from New York Times which first published on August 19.
As the revelation aroused worldwide attention, Bennett spoke out and admitted the truth of the report, one day after Argento denied the accusation on August 21.
Both Asia Argento and McGowan accused of Harvey Weinstein on sexual assault and became activists in the #MeToo movement.
Argento once exposed that Weinstein had raped her during the Cannes festival in 1997, which Weinstein denied.
