Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj discussed regional issues at a meeting in the scenic town of Wuzhen in east China's Zhejiang Province.
"China, Russia and India are all major emerging economies. Three-way cooperation is important for the region and the world," Wang said on the sidelines of the 16th Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of China, Russia, and India.
Discussion topics included hot-button issues like the situations in Venezuela, Afghanistan, the Iran nuclear agreement, as well as the rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
"The UN has dubbed the Jaish-e-Mohammed a terrorist organization. Our recent operation is not of military purpose, but instead, a show of our resolve in combating terrorism, especially the Jaish-e-Mohammed," said Swaraj.
Wang said China is opposed to any form of terrorism and is also keeping a close eye on the situation. China urges both sides to avoid any escalation of tensions, as well as find the truth through peaceful dialogue, Wang added.
Ministers also exchanged views on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Its top leader Kim Jong Un is meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Hanoi, Vietnam.
