The Karamay-Tacheng Railway was put into operation meaning that all cities and prefectures in northwest China's Uygur Autonomous Region are now fully incorporated into the national railway network. The railway will extend to the Baktu Port in Tacheng and then will become an important part of the third railway linking the country with Central Asia and Europe.
