China’s newly domestic-built J-20 stealth fighter has been unveiled to the public for the first time at China’s International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition which opens on Tuesday in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai.
The J-20 is the country’s long-range and first radar-evading combat aircraft. It is developed and manufactured by the Chengdu Aircraft Industries Group, a subsidiary of China’s state-owned aerospace and defense Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

The fighter is China’s counter to the US Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, and breaks the US monopoly in stealth fighters.
With its stealth capabilities, top cruising speed and long-range missiles the new J-20 represents a leap forward in China’s ability to project power and compete with the US.

The airshow is to be held from November 1 to 6, with participation of over 700 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions. Apart from displaying J-20 stealth fighter, China will also showcase Chang’e 5 lunar mission, Mars spacecraft, VT-4 Main Battle Tank and meter-wave radar.
