Indian wrestling film 'Sultan' set for release Friday

"Sultan", the latest Bollywood film focusing on Indian wrestling, will be released in Chinese cinemas on Friday.
Starring Bollywood star Salman Khan, "Sultan" depicts the story of an aging wrestler looking to make an improbable comeback. It is Khan's second film to be released in China following "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which was a hit in March this year.

The 170-minute film will face box office competition from "Mission: Impossible - Fallout", the latest film in Tom Cruise's Hollywood spy franchise which will be released the same day.
"Sultan" proved to be a blockbuster since its release in India on July 6, 2016. It grossed 92 million US dollars in the international market, making it the 5th highest grossing Indian film of all time. It was also the first Indian film in China to win the Jackie Chan Action Movie Award at the Shanghai International Festival in 2017.
In the past few years, Indian films have been very successful in China.

The biggest success has been Aamir Khan's "Dangal", which also came out in 2016, raking in nearly 193 million US dollars at the box office. It was followed by "PK", and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which grossed 173 million US dollars and 119 million US dollars respectively.
