Once labeled as "poverty-stricken", Lianzhang Village of Yingde City in S China's Guangdong Province is now embarking on the path of modernization. Without any industry till 2016, it now has factories and poverty relief workshops. Locals say their income has improved in the last two years. Chinese President Xi Jinping visited this village on Oct. 23 during his inspection tour in Guangdong. Xi met with the villagers and talked with them over how their lives have changed for the better.
