As the SCO Qingdao Summit came to a close, a CCTV reporter sat down with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who talked about the big event and the organization's future.
"President Xi stressed that the Shanghai Spirit is the soul and common asset of the SCO, which must be upheld and promoted. We need to sail in the same boat and cooperate sincerely under the guidance of the Shanghai Spirit, making the SCO, which is a new form of comprehensive organization, into a model for regional cooperation. President Xi's view on development, security, cooperation, civilization and global governance summarized the basics of building a new form of international relations,” Wang Yi said.
As a founding member, China always treats the SCO as one of its diplomatic priorities. During the Qingdao Summit, President Xi Jinping announced a series of important measures to support the SCO. These measures combine China's advantages with the needs of all relevant parties. They are conducive to the organization's development and have been widely welcomed, Wang Yi said.
