Canelo Alvarez wins the unification bout against Daniel Jacobs

The most anticipated boxing match so far in 2019 came to a close with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) unifying the WBA, WBC, and IBF middleweight titles at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the eve of Cinco de Mayo.
The 28-year-old Mexican superstar beat American Daniel Jacobs (35-3-0, 29 KOs) in a 12-round bout by unanimous decision, and the scorecards reading 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113.
"Danny", who is four years older than Alvarez, has advantages in both height and reach, but only hit his stride late in the bout. He changed stance several times and launched a heavy left hand at Round 9, but the Alvarez overcame this stretch and did well in the remaining rounds.

According to the statistics, Alvarez launched 466 punches against Jacobs' 649, and the percentage of significant strikes for the winner was 40% and 20% for the loser.
After this clash, Alvarez admitted that it was a tough match, but he still did what his team had planned for him, and he doesn't care to fight with WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (27-0-0, 17 KOs) or have the third battle with Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (38-1-1, 34KOs); all he said is, "I just want the biggest fight".
For Jacobs, he suggested that he would go back home to review this bout and promised he would do better next time.
