Bundesliga's giant Bayern Munich are seriously considering to appoint Jose Mourinho as the team's new manager, Foot Mercato reported on Thursday.
Since the 56-year-old Portuguese was fired by Premier League's Manchester United in December 2018, he has not coached any club, and there's no sign of him making any decision over his next destination. According to Mirror, he planned to return in June and had already turned down a few offers.

"The Special One" also revealed his criterion of choosing the new employer. First, he wanted the club's management to have empathy so he can work with people who share ideas, just like he did in Serie A's Inter Milan. In the 2009-10 season, Mourinho led the Italian club win the titles of Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League.
The second standard of Mourinho was that he wanted to coach an ambitious club. He wanted to stay in the top league and win the top honor, which in Europe, was the Champions League trophy. Since he was known by the world in 2004 when he won the UCL title with Porto in 2004, Mourinho coached nothing but the best clubs of their leagues: Chelsea of Premier League, Inter Milan of Serie A, Real Madrid of La Liga and Manchester United of Premier League.
Since Mourinho already worked in England, Italy and Spain, making Germany his next stop sounded logical and Bayern Munich are the most successful club in Bundesliga.

The German giant had good reasons to choose Mourinho, too. Though this was only the first season of Niko Kovac with the team, it was also very a disappointing season. Bayern Munich were eliminated by Liverpool in the round of 16 from the Champions League, which has not happened in eight years. Their dominance in Germany was not stable either as Borussia Dortmund kept chasing them on the standing table.
Moreover, without many glorious records on his resume, Kovac did not have the whole team under his control and his confusing rotation already made some players upset.
By contrast, Mourinho is still one of the world's top manager and his teams have been known for their toughness and eagerness for victory, both of which German players have been accused of lacking in recent years.

Bayern Munich were apparently determined to have a major upgrade of their franchise, starting with defense as they already spent some 115 million euros (about 129 million U.S. dollars) for two backs, Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernández. As it so happened, the first thing Mourinho required from his team was a good defense.
Of course, not everything is in Mourinho's favor. One of the reasons that he failed in Real Madrid and Man United was that he asked for full control of the team. He's not likely to get because there are more powerful people than the manager in Bayern Munich, namely president Uli Hoeness and chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. How do these three get along can be a challenge to the club even if Mourinho arrives at the Allianz Arena.
