In 2012, five black bears’ bodies were found on Changbai Mountain in China’s Jilin Province with their gallbladders and paws missing. They were killed by poachers and their organs were sold. Hu Donglin, a wildlife activist and writer, found the dead bears and helped police save bears from six suspects. A few years later, he decided to go back to the forest to search for the orphaned bears.
