All of the four games of the 2018-19 NBA season on Sunday were won by underdog teams. Though Russell Westbrook finally made a comeback with the Oklahoma City Thunders and scored handsomely, his team still lost to the Sacramento Kings 120-131 on home turf.

Having lost to the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers in their first two games, the Thunders needed a win at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, especially with their super star Russell Westbrook back on the court following a knee surgery.
The surgery did not seem to have any impact on Westbrook as he dominated the court again with 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Paul George, another All-Star player with Oklahoma, claimed 29 points and six rebounds.
However, their performances were not good enough in the face of the Kings, whose players all chipped in to claim the team's first victory in the new season. Sacramento's second grader De'Aaron Fox scored 22 points and delivered 10 assists, helping six of his teammates score double digits, including Iman Shumpert who made four three-pointers in seven attempts.

Trae Young proves he can shoot

The Atlanta Hawks also snatched their first win after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 133-111. The team's promising rookie Trae Young further improved his performance by securing 35 points and 11 assists, including six three-pointers out of 14. In the second quarter, he made three three-pointers in less than five minutes and scored in total 18 points, helping the Hawks lead 64-60 after the first half.
Though the Cavaliers tried to catch up in the second half, their poor defense was a stumbling block as they watched Atlanta finish the fourth quarter 41-25. In the end, Cleveland had to accept losing at home, their third in a row this season.

The Denver Nuggets defeated visiting Golden State Warriors in their back-to-back game 100-98 at the Pepsi Center, winning their third consecutive game. Denver center Nikola Jokic scored 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while his teammate Gary Harris put down 28 points including multiple attacks on the basket in the second and fourth quarters to help his team continue their offense. Nuggets forward Juan Hernangomez stopped Warriors' Damian Jones from dunking with a block in the last 10 seconds, putting the victory in the team's pocket.
As for the Warriors, Stephen Curry was his team's best scorer with 30 points. However, the Golden State lost focus multiple times in the game, which led to 18 turnovers. Making things worse, the team's other two main scorers, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, secured together one three-pointer out of 10 attempts. Though Denver's 57.14 percent free-throw rate was also ugly, the Golden State had to leave Colorado with their first loss of the season.

Having defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, the Houston Rockets met another LA team, the Clippers, on Sunday. As Houston core player Chris Paul was suspended, the team saw its rotation take a hit and lost to the Clippers 112-115 at the Staples Center.
Eric Gordon took Paul's place in the first squad and did well in offense, scoring 21 points. However, his obsession with isolation attack meant he failed to create opportunities for other teammates, which was exactly Paul's job. Meanwhile, without Gordon, the Rockets' bench found it very difficult to score. Houston had to return to their old pattern of relying on James Harden alone in offense, which consumed Harden too much, worsening his defense skills.
The Clippers had two reliable scorers Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris who both put down over 20 points. Meanwhile, the team's bench center Montrezl Harrell injected new vigor sealing 17 points, 10 rebounds, including multiple offense rebounds, and three blocks in just 24 minutes.
