I.M. Pei has died at the age of 102. Leaving behind a legacy of eccentric and striking buildings all around the world, the Chinese-American architect was said to have drawn inspiration from his childhood years in eastern China. Indeed his very last professional design was Suzhou Museum. In the spring of 2002, I.M. Pei returned to his hometown of Suzhou, in eastern China's Jiangsu Province, after having been away for many years.
