Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sent a message of condolence to his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte over the deadly bomb blasts that left at least 20 dead.
On behalf of the Chinese government and the people, and in his own name, Xi offered deep condolences to the victims and the bereaved families.
At least 20 people were killed and 111 others wounded on Sunday when two bombs hit a Catholic church on a southern Philippine island that is a stronghold of Islamist militants, police said.
Xi stressed that China opposes terrorism in any form and strongly condemns violent acts of terror against innocent civilians.
He added that China is willing to work with the international community including the Philippines to fight against terrorism and safeguard world and regional peace and stability.
