On the occasion of the very first China International Import Expo (CIIE), entrepreneurs and officials at the expo shared their views on the expo and President Xi Jinping's keynote speech Monday morning.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said tech companies are encouraged by President Xi's speech. "I think tech companies are excited about President Xi's announcement that (the) Shanghai Stock Exchange will have a high tech board and pilot a registration system."
"The CIIE brings opportunities to China and countries all over the world. It could be considered as a historic event for China to further open up and expand domestic demand," Lei added.

Zhu Min, former IMF Deputy Managing Director, said the expo shows China's efforts to further opening up. "China will step up efforts to open market access. A negative list, an IP protection framework and a legal system are important." "As for industry, China's agriculture, service, education and healthcare will be more open," said Zhu Min.
As for global trade, Zhu said that China has largely reduced its trade surplus as a result of economic structural reform, the most fundamental way to solve trade problems.
