2018 Beijing Dance Festival brings intensive training in contemporary dance styles

The annual Beijing Dance Festival is one of the biggest celebrations of the art form in China.  This year's much-anticipated event kicked off on Friday, with an international faculty passing on their contemporary skills in a dance camp.
Dance masters from countries including China, Italy, France, Japan, the United States and Barbados are giving lessons to their new students.
The festival's two-week run is divided into an educational week and a performance week.

The Dance Festival began with a six-day dance camp.
Here, enthusiasts from China and abroad could enjoy intensive training in contemporary styles from techniques and movements to choreography and artistic expression.

The artistic director of the Beijing Dance Festival, Willy Tsao, says more and more dance lovers are getting involved in the camp every year. He added that he believes the international group will work well together.
Besides training, the education week also includes a series of lectures and workshops.
